So, finally, here in Italy we can go out.
From the 4th of May, we are allowed to go out to do outdoor sports or simply walking for a distance greater than 200 mt (650 feet, more or less) from our home – as it was before.
That day has been like restarting to breathe!
I went for a mountain bike ride with my husband, just a couple of hours, on the hills behind our home, and it was so beautiful.
Leaving the legs round on pedals, with that kind of lightness that only a newly re-discovered freedom can give.
Feeling the morning crispy air on the face, the comfortable hot sun rays on arms and legs, feeling nature sounds, smelling the spring flowers scents all around… Filling my eyes with the blue of the sky and the green of the fields and trees, that in these weeks are at their best.
So regenerating.
It was a very particular feeling: on one hand, it was like if I found my usual life as if the past 2 months didn’t exist. On the other hand, it was so new and in some ways surprisingly wonderful.
We have been very lucky also that it was a sunny and clear day, that allowed us to fully enjoy the ride.
For not to leave anything behind, the day after I went for a run, this time alone. My husband does not like running – and honestly, better this way. I think that running is essentially a solo-thing: you, the road, your heartbeat, your legs, your sweat. And, for me, my music in the ear cuffs.
Running for me is like therapy: erases any bad thought, bad feeling, anxiety, or worrying.
I started running like 10 years ago, more or less, because I have some circulatory problems in the legs, and doing a very sedentary job, my doctor suggested me to introduce running in my routine. And that was love at first “sight”. Now, for me, it is “my special moment”: the worst the day, the better the run.
So, from the semi-quarantine it’s all for today. My next wish is to be able to see my sister, that lives in Milan (that is in a different region, and we still are not allowed to crossing regional borders to meet relatives – any kind of).
Fingers crossed!
And in the meantime, I will keep running, and riding, and walking…
